… and finding out that other humans are actually digging it! Last year, I wrote a track with Nu Disco producer Paul Lock. A bunch of different Youtube channels reposted the track and I only just noticed one of them has over 69K views already! Wah! 😎
I always take metrics on social media with a grain of salt, because so many people are buying fake views and likes these days. Who even knows what’s real anymore? Having said that… even just reading 1 comment of a person I DO NOT KNOW who is enjoying this track in their car – well, that’s freaking exciting to me.
This is not me trying to downplay anything, because of course, I hope that in general more than 1 person will enjoy the songs I create and the words I write 🎶
My point is that creating something out of nothing and being able to inspire, uplift or entertain even just one of your fellow humans with that very thing… that in itself feels MAGICAL. And something to be grateful for. Agree?
It also makes all the moments you want to throw your laptop off your balcony out of musical frustration worth it! This might be referring to me going into the last week of vocal editing for my EP. Send your prayers 😬
PS: With ‘fake views and likes’ I’m talking about fake metrics bought from click farms, not artists genuinely trying to build their fan base through paid ads or content marketing. There are a lot of legit and non-sketchy ways to grow an audience, thank God, but that’s a topic for another day… For now, time for a little celebration! 🍷
